Back in the Saddle

After a refreshing week on holiday in New Zealand I'm back in the saddle. Which means that I have a mere 250 email messages to catch up on.

I'll get back to you when I've managed to work my way through them.

PythonCard 0.6.7

PythonCard is a GUI construction kit for building cross-platform desktop applications on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. The latest release of PythonCard includes 30 sample applications, new additions include chat, webserver, pictureViewer, slideshow, and webgrabber, a sample to download web sites. The webserver sample comes ready to run XML-RPC server scripts. This release also supports the new wxPython 2.3.3 preview for Mac OS X.

Four of the samples have been promoted to tools status: codeEditor, findfiles, resourceEditor, and textEditor.

The documentation page has links to installation instructions for Windows that covers installing Python, wxPython, and PythonCard. Dan Shafer added an extensive resourceEditor overview for this release. There is a new set of Wiki pages for "in progress" documentation and to supplement the main web site. Check the changelog for a complete list of changes for release 0.6.7.

Out of the Closet

Stuff it, why be a shrinking violet. Lets go live with this puppy and see where it gets us. For those who have been redirected from my previous blogs - welcome.

The appearance of this blog will change, don't be too scared.

Baby Steps

First baby steps completed. I've imported my previous posts from Blogger and made the required changes so that they show up here.

Movable Type has a smart import utility that creates a post for each entry in your blogger archive, but because I had been inconsistent with the way I wrote my posts it couldn't easily identify which titles to use for each post. So I've been through all of the entries and updated them.

Next steps are; change the template to be in keeping with my site look and feel (hello snot green), and start playing with categories.

I'm not going to replace the Blogger blog just yet, so this is strictly between you and me for now <0.5 wink>

Hello, and welcome to my blog. As soon as I figure out how to import my blogger archives we should be away and laughing

Technology - its great, innit

A great piece on Boing Boing today describing a talk that Howard Rheingold gave. Go and read it, the man is right slap bang on the money.

Mental note to self: Go and read more from Howard Rheingold and Doug Englebart.
